Caped Crusader

Feeling a bit disheartened this week guys, lots of people telling me things that I refuse to accept as true. What I have also realised is that I respect VERY few people in this world- mainly distinguished academics, anybody who is working towards effecting social change, writers, humanitarian workers, charity workers, my Mum, my Sister and of course Storm from the X-men.

Quite frankly a lot of people in this world need to REALLY 'siddown' and stop feeling so *'pepperless' and excitable about their lives. I really must stop now before this becomes a piercing diatribe on the Legal Industry as an entity....that quite frankly is for another blog entirely.

So what to do when you are stressed? Erm...obvious- wear a cape and daydream about a metaphorical land where your super-powers include amongst other things destroying ugg-boots, being able to deflect the germs from the sneezes of fellow commuters on the underground and being able to create a baked cheesecake in the blink of an eye all using telekinesis.

My nemesis would be the creator of Jane Norman OR Helena Bonham Carter's stylist. Let world domination commence MUAHAHAHAHA!

* Nigerian colloquialism meaning -boundless level of excitement and pride for no quantifiable/tangible reason.

Erykah Bad-hair

Key observations I have made lately regarding my style:

It doesn't fit into any set pattern. I am a free spirit like Pocahontas.

When I have just gotten my hair done I wear heels - i'm assuming to facilitate the 'jus got ma hurr did' strut that inevitably follows departure from the hair salon.

When I am happy I wear florals, even when it is frightfully inappropiate - i.e. in the snow. *please don't judge*

When I am angry at the world I dress either like Erykah Badu and/or a member of Madonna's backing dancer team. I think it is a way of demonstrating my defiance of accepted of societal norms.

When I am depressed, I wear pyjamas.

Here is Miss Thang herself giving the 'I just don't give a what'  attitude.

Saturday, I was depressed/ REALLY didn't want to brush my hair and below are the results....

My own interpretation...

KISSES!!!

What is your styling peculiarity???

Seeing Red at Night

For those of you who may not know, i'm Nigerian. I don't have a gele or a buba and thus I seek to rectify this with statement jewellery and an healthy obsession with puff-puff, chin-chin, egusi, moin-moin and akara. <---my non Naija friends do see below for a comprehensive glossary of the terms used.

This was my interpretation of African Princess- suitably watered down for the Western World. If anybody DOES feel like sending me a gele though i'll be more than happy to accept it!

I am really intrigued to see/hear about people's interpretation of cultural style African/Nigerian or otherwise. Please do comment and enlighten me!

Still convinced this song is about bumble bees.

Skinny Naviccino

Hey guys, just a quick post today as this has been a pretty tough week. On Monday I had my wisdom tooth yanked ferociously taken out-(OUCH btw) so I have been mighty irritable as the sum total of my sustenance for the week has consisted of two cartons of soup, porridge and ibuprofen. YUM! To console my bleeding heart (and general mouth area) I wore my favourite blue shoes for my first adventure out since the trauma (yes trauma).

Also I have given up moaning for Lent which has made bearing the pain all the more delightful. Ah well, at least I still have some teeth left, I shall give a three tooth grimace  smile to the world and make lemonade with strawberries or whatever the saying is....

P.S. Topppa the marnin' to ya. Happy St Patrick's Day!

Love love LOVE my new chinos!

80% cool

So yeah I am an 80's baby. I honestly believe I was born in the wrong decade so every now and again I throw on some high waisted babies and channel my inner 80s persona, I listen to some Bonnie Tyler and Whitesnake and 'sing' (to myself) about general heartbreak and other such emotional ailments (that is what the 80's was about right...heartbreak and synthesisers)

Just look at how 'fly' i look? Can you see my phone hanging nonchalantly out of my pocket? Oh yeah...who's bad? Looks like I used hairspray right- nope I just haven't had time to go to the hairdressers!

All I need now is a beat-box and some RunDMC

Looks like Hammer time to me....

Other things I love from the 80's include

The world's greatest non male drag queen (and awesome singer) Cher

Tom Cruise (pre the Oprah Winfrey chair hopping incident)

Jon Bon Jovi (OK so this love never really died down)

If I had to pick one thing though...hmmm dunno...that's TRICKY!

See what I did there???

Peace out!!

Seeing Red

Seeing Red
Seeing Red by Eyes88 featuring prada shoes
I wanted to look like this...so I did.

I really must apologise for the quintessentially bloggeristic poses that I have pulled in this post- it is a new thing that I am trying...

So I am back to studying soon and I am trying to enjoy every single nugget of life as much as possible before the dreaded Monday gloom descends upon my happiness...

What better way to do this than to wear obscenely high gold heels and a fur coat for no apparent reason?

P.S. Rum and Raisin ice cream rocks my world (erm, no it doesn't have any relevance to the blog post but what's your point???)

T-shirt : Somewhere on Carnaby Street
Skirt: Thrifted
Shoes: ASOS
Ring: Primarni
Fur Coat: Gifted

Hey to my new followers and even those of you who are seemingly scared to follow and just like to dip your toe into my crazy world 'preciate it all the same.

If you would like any more info about me or the blog do feel free to get in touch...

Sooo in love with...

ERM...so I am in LOVE with MIU-MIU's Ready to Wear Collection for Fall 2011. Like seriously, I could have a long term relationship with that burnt orange floral dress, have a casual fling with the black skirt and finally settle down and have a family with that forest green clutch...no I don't have an unhealthy obsession with clothes and even if I do blame society or at the very least Primark

Yeah so I am off to study so that by Fall 2011 I will be able to afford to look like this....

I see a pattern emerging...

Uh-oh...SPAGHETTIOS!!

I am not actually sure where I heard that phrase, I know that it was many moons ago, probably on an American film and since then it has been used as my indication of mild dread and general foreboding. In other words 'Duh-da-duuuuum'.

Fear not my friends, there is no ACTUAL problem, I just seem to be developing a clothing pattern i.e. bright tights with everything. I really should try to utilise the other 78,000 items of clothing in my wardrobe shouldn't I?

#BadAiz!

This post is kinda dedicated to my lovely sis who told me that you can't wear hotpants  sensible denim shorts in the daytime.

Can't Shmant i say!
